People who have diabetes may experience various symptoms.

Some of these symptoms may include:

  • Extreme thirst
  • Frequent urination
  • Unexplained weight loss
  • Increased hunger
  • Blurry vision
  • Irritability
  • Tingling numbness in hands or feet
  • Frequent skin, bladder, or gum infections
  • Wounds that don’t heal
  • Extreme fatigue

If you experience these symptoms, talk to your primary care physician. In some cases, diabetes might not produce any symptoms or they come on so gradually they may not be recognized; this happens occasionally with type 2 diabetes. People can live for months or even years without knowing they have the disease.
