Effective Treatment Options for Breast Cancer Care

At Doctors Community Hospital's Center for Comprehensive Breast Care, you have access to a wide range of treatment options that incorporate advanced technology.

Breast conservation and lumpectomy

It removes the tumor and some surrounding tissue, preserving as much of the breast as possible.

Nipple-sparing mastectomy

It removes breast tissue only, preserving the skin, areola and nipple.

Reconstructive surgery

It restores the breast to near-normal shape, appearance and size after tumor removal.

Radiation oncology/partial breast radiation

It shrinks tumors and destroys cancer cells; also used to treat healthy tissue to prevent it from creating new cancer cells.

Medical oncology

It specializes in treating breast cancer using chemotherapy and hormone therapy and understands the potential side effects, complications, and psychological impact.

Lymphedema treatment

It treats the swelling (lymphedema) sometimes associated with breast cancer surgery or radiation.


Education Class for Newly Diagnosed Breast Cancer Patients

This education class provides newly diagnosed breast cancer patients with an overview of what to expect during their treatment journey as well as provides an opportunity for them to ask questions in a comfortable setting. 

Patients are introduced to various treatment options that include surgery, radiation treatment and chemotherapy. In addition to handouts and information about internet resoucres, patients receive navigational tools to help them keep track of their medical care. Both morning and evening classes are held the second and fourth Tuesday of the month.
