Doctors Community Hospital’s Wound Center Recognized with National President’s Circle Award for Clinical Excellence

Lanham, Maryland – Doctors Community Hospital’s Center for Wound Healing and Hyperbaric Medicine earned a President’s Circle award as a center of distinction for outstanding performance. It was awarded this prestigious honor by Healogics, the nation's largest provider of advanced wound care services. This achievement was based on the center’s outstanding clinical outcomes during twelve consecutive months.  Also, it factored patient satisfaction rates that were higher than 92 percent and a minimum wound healing rate that were at least 91 percent within 30 median days to heal. Only 10 out of 621 eligible wound centers in the country earned the center of distinction achievement.

“Non-healing or chronic wounds are conditions experienced by many people in our community.  Treatment often requires personalized treatments, comprehensive education and advanced technology.  We provide that type of high-quality care in a compassionate environment at our Wound Center.  We are proud to earn this award, which recognizes our commitment to improving the quality of people’s lives,” stated Dr. Patricia Christensen, vice president for patient care services and chief nursing officer.

The Center for Wound Healing and Hyperbaric Medicine is a member of the Healogics network of nearly 700 Wound Care Centers® and provides access to benchmarking data and has proven experience treating approximately 2.5 million chronic wounds. The Lanham center offers highly specialized wound care to patients suffering from diabetic ulcers, pressure ulcers, infections and other chronic wounds, which have not healed in a reasonable amount of time. Leading edge treatments include negative pressure wound therapy, total contact casting, bio-engineered tissues, biosynthetic dressings and growth factor therapies. It also offers hyperbaric oxygen therapy, which surrounds the patient with 100 percent oxygen to help progress the healing of the wound.

According to Cash McQuarter, program director at the Center for Wound Healing and Hyperbaric Medicine, “From providing personalized wound treatment plans to compassionately addressing all healing concerns, our team supports patients during every step of their wound care journeys.  We even celebrate ‘sore losers’ by joining our patients in the ringing of special bell to recognize the healing of their wounds.”
