Expanding to Care for You
This is a very exciting time for Doctors Community Hospital as we continue to grow to meet the healthcare needs of the region. Doctors Community Hospital has embarked on an aggressive building program including a new professional office building that will house a comprehensive cancer center, radiation therapy and immediate access to diagnostic imaging and multi-disciplinary cancer treatment. The clinical program will offer cutting edge, state-of-the-art technology including PET/CT and a linear accelerator.
The professional office building also will include a new Women’s Health and Breast Center. This center will allow us to engage the community through expanded outreach programs, educational seminars and health screenings. Adjacent to the professional office building will be a new 400-car parking garage. This phase of construction is expected to be complete early in 2009.
Additionally, construction has begun for a new six-story patient bed tower that will include 90 new private patient rooms and the conversion of all existing semi-private rooms to private, resulting in Doctors Community Hospital being an all private room facility. In addition, the Emergency Center, which has become one of the busiest in the state, will be expanded by 18 beds to allow us to accommodate a significantly larger volume of patients. This phase of the project is expected to be complete in late 2009.
As Doctors Community Hospital evolves to meet the ever-expanding health care needs of the citizens of Prince George’s County, we look to the support of the community as we launch our capital campaign in the coming months.
